The ReSound Sensia is a premium hearing aid family from GN, led by the rechargeable microRIE, which ReSound calls the world's smallest AI receiver-in-ear hearing aid. At its top technology level, it recognizes when a noisy room is making conversation hard and brings in its strongest speech processing on its own, with no program to select. We fit the ReSound Sensia for patients who want help in noise without having to think about their hearing aids.

How Sensia Decides When to Step In

Sensia's automatic program, called Intelligent All-Around, moves through three stages as a room changes. In quiet settings, both hearing aids stay open to sound from every direction so you keep a natural sense of where things are.

As noise builds, Sensia shifts to a Better Ear approach, making one side more focused and leaving the other more open. When it detects steady conversation in front of you in a genuinely loud space, it enters Intelligent Focus, combining a four-microphone beam with deep neural network denoising to bring forward the person you are facing. Sensia waits for a consistent pattern before taking that last step, which can take about a minute, so the sound does not keep jumping between modes.

Key Features of the ReSound Sensia

These features shape how well you follow conversation and how the hearing aids fit into your day.

  • AcoustIQ Sound Sensing. Reads your surroundings continuously and engages the right features, with 91% classification accuracy and 88% greater accuracy than the closest competitor by ReSound's testing.
  • Four-Microphone Beamforming. Creates a narrow forward beam so you choose who to hear by looking at them, and ReSound reports users preferred it 93% of the time.
  • Two Kinds of Noise Reduction. Uses DNN denoising when there is speech to protect and ReSound's Noise Tracker II for steady noise such as a fan or vacuum.
  • 24 Hours or More on a Charge. The rechargeable microRIE and custom ITC and ITE styles last at least a full day, and up to about 30 hours depending on use.
  • Auracast That Works Today. Bluetooth LE Audio streaming and fully functional Auracast at launch, so you can join broadcasts in equipped theaters and public venues through the ReSound Smart 3D app.
  • IP68 Durability. Nanocoating on every part and microphone filters you can change yourself at home.

Is the ReSound Sensia Right for You?

Sensia is a good fit for patients who struggle most in restaurants and group settings, and for current Vivia wearers who rarely remember to switch into the hearing-in-noise program. GN chose not to offer Sensia's new steering to Vivia through a firmware update, so getting it means new hearing aids. If your Vivia devices are working well and you use the second program comfortably, there may be no reason to change yet.

Features vary by level and style. Full automatic processing is in the Sensia 9 microRIE, Sensia 7 offers DNN through a manual program, and custom styles do not include DNN denoising at launch. Music needs its own program, since Sensia does not classify music automatically.
